The International Education Fair has a 20-year history in Russia. Our first exhibition took place in Moscow in 1998. In 2004 IEF also came to St. Petersburg, the North Capital of Russia, and became one of the largest exhibitions of international education in the North-West region of the country.

International Education Fair is held twice per year, in October and February. The main aim of the Fall and Spring events is to provide Russian speaking students with the first-hand information on various study opportunities around the world. It also provides international educational institutions and professionals with high-quality student recruitment opportunities in Russia. Nevertheless each exhibition has its own identity. In October, one of the focuses is on study programs in Europe, while in February - study opportunities in North America.

Both exhibitions are open for institutions, organizations and professionals from around the world recruiting for various programmes and courses.

In 2016/2017 academic year the exhibition welcomed educational institutions from Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK and USA.

Every year more and more Russian students pack their bags to go abroad to continue their education. Latest surveys indicate that every third Russian student who is going to study abroad selects the United Kingdom, every sixth-seventh, France or Germany. Study in Finland, Sweden and Netherlands is more and more attractive for many young Russians. High quality of Swiss education in the hospitality industry is very well-known here and USA and Canada are the most popular destinations for studying abroad outside of Europe.

The majority of Russian students prefer to take undergraduate programs at local universities and continue their education abroad. That is why Master and PhD degree programs are in great demand among both university students and young graduates seriously considering second degrees abroad with the idea of improving their future career prospects. Many European universities offer postgraduate courses in English. This language is taught widely in Russian secondary schools and higher education institutions. That is why English taught postgraduate courses give wider opportunities to Russian students to study in different European countries.
